The new StageTwo bike carrier is a great bike carrier for any off-road lover, it's perfect for 4x4 use with a simple design which is built to be strong and practical. The tiered and offset bike tray system provides less bike to bike interference and reduced strain on your tow hitch by allowing less rear overhang. This also allows a better departure angle than any other hitch mounted platform style bike carrier.
The StageTwo has a weight capacity of 19kg per bike when used off-road and 31.7kg per bike when used on-road, which makes it great for most standard forms of bikes whether they're mountain bikes, road bikes or even fat bikes. However, this weight restriction makes it unsuitable for many e-bikes when travelling off-road.
A wide range of bike types and sizes can be accommodated with this carrier, you can fit bikes with wheel diameters of between 16in to 29in, bike tire widths of up to 3.25in as standard and up to 5in with the use of the Yakima Fat Bike Adapter Kit (sold separately). The maximum wheel base allowable is up to 132cm, large enough for most bikes. This makes it suitable for a huge range of styles and types of bicycles, from kid's bikes to road racers.
It features an easy to use tilt lever to allow access to the rear of your vehicle, and this can be used while your bikes are loaded on the carrier for added convenience.
Your bikes are cradled on a platform and secured by the wheels, ensuring less chance of any marking or rubbing on your bike frame. This is further ensured by the previously mentioned offset and tiered tray design, making the carrier excellent for hauling carbon framed bikes and bikes with other custom frame finishes.
Installation and removal of the StageTwo is also made easy through the use of Yakima's tried and true SpeedKnob attachment system. Note that this carrier is designed to fit only 2in or 50mm hitch recievers. For more information on fitting please refer to the instruction manual.
The StageTwo is designed to carry two bikes but it can be extended to four bikes with the use of the StageTwo 2 Bike Add-On.
Locks are built-in for both the bike and the rack, plus the keys can be matched to your existing Yakima products. You can key alike your Yakima products by purchasing lock cores, sold separately. If you have any further questions about key matching please contact us for more information.
