The NV is one of Kuat's best bike carriers, their goal when building this rack was to make a great value premium bike rack, and it shows. So if you're looking for a fully featured and premium hitch mounted bike carrier it's an excellent choice.

This is a hitch mounted rack which will fit 2in (50mm) size hitches and has a carrying capacity of two bikes with a weight of up to 27kg for each bike. This ample weight allowance makes it suitable for even the heaviest bikes, including most e-bikes. It's very versatile also as it can fit bikes of any frame design as it secures your bike via the front wheel and it's able to accommodate bikes with wheel diameters of between 25in and 29in. However, for 20in to 24in diameter wheels the use of an adapter is required part 016-025-00-00 (one is included with the bike carrier though). The maximum wheelbase allowable is up to 50in (127cm) and maximum tire width is 3in (7.6cm) but this can be expanded to 5in (12.7cm) with an adapter part APBK, sold separately.

Built to carry two bikes out of the box it can also be expanded with either the Kuat NV 2 Bike Add-On or the Kuat NV 1 Bike Add-On depending on your needs.

At times you may run into an issue with two bikes that don't want to fit well together on any bike carrier, the NV solves this problem with adjustable height wheel cradles so you can find the right position for any bike combo to ensure no bike to bike contact while underway. 

Along with a range of clever design features the NV has something that no other carrier has, the Trail Doc, which is very easy to use lift out bike holder which clamps onto your bike's frame, allowing you unfettered access to your bike's vital parts. It's designed to be used to perform on-the-road maintenance of your bike, a very cool feature in our opinion.

This carrier is built to be strong so it can handle rough terrain and heavy bikes, however the carrier weighs a hefty 23.5kg due to the need for reinforced and stronger materials. It has a gloss metallic powder coated finish so it looks great too.

The NV features a foot lever operated folding feature so it can either sit flat against the back of your vehicle in an upright position when not in use or easily lowered into the horizontal position, ready to load your bikes. Plus it has the ability to tilt the carrier down when loaded to allow easy access to the rear of your vehicle.

It's suitable for carbon framed bikes too as there is no frame contact when mounting your bike to this carrier, and the wheel clamp is adjustable for various wheels sizes. The rear wheel cradles have a co-moulded wheel strap for better wheel finish protection.

For bike security this carrier includes a fully integrated lock system which consists of a cable lock which comes out of the carrier itself with a lock built into the cable. The NV 2.0 also features a hitch lock to ensure your carrier doesn't go walkabout either.
